- Mrauk U City is a major archaeological and tourist destination, and the second largest producer of rice in Myanmar after Ayeyarwady Region.
- Thandwe City is a major seaport in Rakhine State, and only 7km away from Ngapali Beach, one of Myanmar’s famous beaches.
- Rakhine State holds unexplored potential for petroleum and natural gas production.
