GEOGRAPHY AND CLIMATE
Located in the centre of Myanmar, bordering Sagaing Region and Magway Region to the west, Shan State to the east, and Bago Region and Kayin State to the south. Mandalay’s weather is usually dry.

- Mandalay’s population is the third largest of states and regions
- Although Mandalay City hosts some of Myanmar’s best higher education institutions, the rest of Mandalay has limited access to education.
- A continuous influx of Chinese immigrants in the past two decades, has reshaped the city’s ethnic makeup and increased commerce with China.
- The lack of infrastructure for irrigation and clean drinking water is a challenge for both agriculture activities and public health.
