‘It is time to invest in Myanmar’, said H.E. U Thaung Tun, Union Minister, Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations. He was speaking at a roadshow presentation for Invest Myanmar Summit 2019 to a captive audience at the Korean Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
Korea ranks sixth among the 48 countries currently investing in Myanmar, with a total investment value of USD38.87 billion. Both countries have recently signed an Agreement of Protection and Promotion of Investments between Myanmar and Korea in October 2018.
With the new Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations, that number looks set to increase, along with other foreign investment statistics. U Thaung Tun promised streamlined and simplified company registrations and filings via online electronic services, stating that company registration will now take less than an hour. The Ministry will also provide ‘post-investment care’, resolving issues investors encounter.
H.E. U Thaung Tun will be participating in a dialogue on how the new Ministry of Investment and Foreign Economic Relations is likely to effect change in the country on Day 2 of the Summit. See more details here
