According to the Directorate of Investment and Company Administration, Myanmar received its first foreign investment in the power supply sector. Construction of the new 145-megawatt plant is set to begin in 2019.
This gas-fired plant will be built in Singaing Township in a joint venture between China’s Power Gen Kyaukse and two Myanmar companies. The Investment Commission has approved five foreign investment projects totaling $406 million in the 2017-28 fiscal year from Singapore, China, and Japan. Read more here.
